Dr. Lori Kogan, of Colorado State University, said the US study suggested 50% of pet owners had their pet as their feature photo on their devices. She said this behaviour offered insights into the close bonds between people and cats and dogs.
Ocala, Florida-based equine veterinarian Richard “Chip” Estes, DVM, a 1974 graduate of Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine, was recognized with the American Association of Equine Practitioners’ (AAEP) 2018 Distinguished Educator – Mentor Award for the continuous support he has shown his colleagues throughout his career and into his retirement.
“Get a breed that works well in small areas,” Lori Kogan said. “Sometimes that doesn’t mean small breeds. Some of the smaller breeds are extremely active, and some of the larger breeds are actually couch potatoes. (For example), greyhounds are great in small settings because they really love to sleep on the couch all day long.”
Luke Bass, DVM, MS, DABVP, assistant professor and head of the Equine Field Service at the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, has joined the American Association of Equine Practitioners’ board of directors. His three-year term expires in 2021.
