2020 was the year of COVID-19, of staying home, wearing your mask, and distancing yourself from friends and family.

However, it was also the year of incredible scientific discoveries, some of which happened in our own backyard. The dedicated research teams at Colorado State University worked hard to find a solution to the COVID-19 crisis.

"This historic time of crisis demanded bold action at every level of Colorado State University," says the narrator of CSU's latest video: "Action in a Time of Crisis: Colorado State University Research Retrospective".

The video calls COVID-19 the "challenge of a lifetime", but despite that, teams of researchers at CSU worked hard to come up with solutions across all of their departments.

In the retrospective, several researchers are interviewed, like Rebekah Kading and Gregg Dean of the Microbiology, Immunology & Pathology department who say that pandemics are something they think about all the time. Kading said that the pandemic initially worried her because of the "interconnectivity of our world, and how easily things can move."

We're lucky to live in a community that houses some of the best researchers in the world, and knowing the leaps and bounds these prominent community figures have made over the past year in response to this crisis is incredible to see. Watch the video above to learn more about how researchers responded to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and the research that will benefit us for years to come.
