The Fast and the Furriest 5K begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 28 at the Colorado State University Oval.

Organized by CSU veterinary students, the race raises money for the Companion Care Fund, which helps lower-income community members get life-saving and emergency veterinary care at the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

The race is a family- and dog-friendly event. Teams and costumes are encouraged. A quarter-mile fun run for youth ages 12 is free, and under starts at 10 a.m.

The event includes a raffle, silent auction, and event expo after the race. The expo and registration booths will be located on the southwest corner of the Oval, near the finish line.

Register on Active.com before April 14 for $25. the price goes up to $30 on April 14.

Race-day registration is $35 and begins at 7 a.m. on April 28.
