“After a month I knew Alaska was going to be home,” said Liz Millman. “It’s pretty incredible to be graduating vet school and going back to Alaska to continue caring for these dogs and building a career.”
The goat, now named Lafayette after the city he was found in, had a successful surgery at the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital and is already standing on his three legs.

The new study, “Amazonian deforestation and soil biodiversity,” is published in the June issue of Conservation Biology and is co-authored by CSU Distinguished Professor Diana Wall, Bruno Sobral, professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology at CSU, and Artur Silva, professor at the Universidade Federal do Pará in Belém, Brazil.
“Fitness plays a major role in the efficiency of cooling down,” says Erin Contino, MS, DVM, Dipl. ACVSMR, an eventer and assistant professor of equine sports medicine and rehabilitation at Colorado State University’s Equine Orthopaedic Research Center, in Fort Collins. “Conditioning leads to physiologic adaptations that help to dissipate heat.”
Dr. Stephanie McGrath recommended only purchasing CBD products that include a Certificate of Analysis, which verifies that a product meets specifications.
The partnership builds on the strengths of both universities, according to the release. CU School of Medicine is a strong leader in medical education and research programs, while CSU boasts expertise in human, animal and public health.
“Hindsight’s always twenty-twenty, but they should not have been racing those days," equine surgeon Dr. Wayne McIlwraith told the Daily News, referring to Southern California’s record rainfall in May and a storm May 16.
