As we move to the latter half of Women’s History Month, I wanted to share some different resources and events to engage in as we celebrate Women in STEM!
The American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) is hosting a virtual Women’s History Month Film Festival. To participate, you watch the following movies and then participate in a virtual discussion. Sign up to join the discussion.
Movies include:
- Hidden Figures (on Hulu): Depicts the story of a team of Black women mathematicians at NASA in the early 1960s.
- Temple Grandin (on HBO Max): Depicts CSU’s own professor, animal behaviorist, and neurodiversity advocate, Temple Grandin.
- Saving Face (on Amazon Prime): The story of a Chinese American surgeon and lesbian and her more traditional mother as they navigate their relationships, including their own.
- This Changes Everything (on Netflix): A documentary on the representation of women in film.
Beyond viewing these films, and participating in the zoom discussion, also check out the AAVMC’s reflections on women in the veterinary field from current AAVMC President Dr. Susan Tornquist and President-Elect Dr. Ruby L. Perry, who will be the first Black woman president of AAVMC!
