Palmer has ample experience educating veterinarians, mentoring surgery residents who have received the Mark Bloomberg Excellence in Research award, and is founder of the Complete Course in External Skeletal Fixation, an intensive orthopedic surgery course for surgeons and teachers around the world.

Palmer has been a member of the society since 1986, serving on the Board of Directors from 2010-2014, and will begin his one-year term as president in February. He values the opportunity the organization provides young investigators to share their work with peers, and looks forward to continuing to foster connections among the orthopedic community.

“I am truly honored to be given the opportunity to serve as a leader of this wonderful organization and to be a part of its remarkable and honorable heritage,” said Palmer.

Palmer is a professor of orthopedic surgery at Colorado State University, where he has been a part of the faculty in the Department of Clinical Sciences since 2004. His research focuses on disease and injury of the canine and human knee, cartilage repair, and bone healing.
