Jorgensen Labs, a Loveland-based supplier of veterinary medical supplies, has made a donation to Colorado State University to establish a chair in clinical sciences at the university’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
Norm Jorgensen, vice president of marketing at the company, earned a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State in 1977 and his doctor of veterinary medicine degree there in 1980, according to a press release from CSU.
“My success started with my education at CSU,” he said in the release. “I recognize that for CSU to continue to produce some of the best veterinarians in the world, they need financial support. It’s been a goal of mine for a long time to make this happen, to step back and leave a bit of a legacy at the university I love.”
The endowment comes from Norm Jorgensen, his brother, Hans Jorgensen, and their brother-in-law, Earl Sethre. Hans Jorgensen is the company’s president, and Sethre is its administrative vice president.
The gift will enable the vet school to “recognize a faculty member with a track record of significant contributions to the rapidly evolving field of veterinary medicine and strong potential to make a lasting impact on animal health,” the release said.
The endowment will support a faculty position in emergency and critical care at the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Fort Collins, the release said.
Jorgensen Labs was founded in 1965 in Minnesota by the late Dr. Irvin Jorgensen and moved to Loveland in 1970. Irvin Jorgensen was the father of Hans and Norm Jorgensen and father-in-law of Sethre.
