Since 2017, Tom Vilsack has been a strategic adviser of food and water initiatives at CSU's National Western Center and was on hand in May for the groundbreaking for the first building on the CSU "Spur" campus, it includes an equine center, a clinic for companion animals in conjunction with the Dumb Friends League, and will help educate CSU’s veterinary students.
CSU will also partner with the Dumb Friends League at Vida to offer a donor-subsidized clinic for companion animals while providing hands-on education for veterinary students.
For the fifth year, students and faculty from the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences brought free veterinary care, community education, and health resources to Denver’s Globeville and Elyria-Swansea neighborhoods.
“The real focus of some of the work there is to get people excited about careers in veterinary health,” dean Mark Stetter said. “We want to use that as a platform to get inner-city kids excited about going to college.”
