One of the biggest advancements in the equipment concerns minimally invasive procedures using endoscopy, according to David Twedt, DVM, DACVIM, a professor of clinical sciences at Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
“Communication in animal care is important, because you might be talking about where you give a cow an injection, and that location affects how long the medicine is in the cow’s system, and how well that medicine will work,” said Dr. Noa Roman-Muniz, a CSU veterinary alumna who is now as associate professor in the Department of Animal Sciences and a CSU Extension dairy specialist. “So it’s about human and animal health and safety, as well as food quality.”

CSU researcher Jesse Wilson is accelerating research to improve imaging and detection of melanoma, and his Young Investigator Award from the Melanoma Research Alliance will open the door to partnering with the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences to test new imaging applications on canine patients.
The National Cancer Institute runs a network of 24 academic research institutes, including Tufts’, across the country to share information from comparative clinical trials. There are comparative clinical trial programs at Tufts, Penn, Ohio State, Colorado State University, and the University of California at Davis, among others.
"In general, though, working dogs or sporting dogs that do hunting or search-and-rescue are considered high-activity dogs, whereas pets—even if they play a lot—typically don't engage in the same levels of activity," Dr. Jonathan Stockman says.

Dr. Stephanie McGrath is now in her second study of CBD in dogs with epilepsy. She’s currently enrolling 60 dogs into the new study.
